There will be all sorts of motives for killings or other acts of serious violence. While no one is likely to have much sympathy, some motives will prove easier to process or comprehend than others. But there are many killings where a motive may be absent, or the reason so incomprehensible that people struggle to take it in.

In the case we’ll be examining this week on Testimony, a young woman simply working her shift on the door of a nightclub lost her life in a sadistic way, with the only real reason identified to this day being that the perpetrator simply couldn’t pay the fee to get in.

It’s an appalling case, much of which was captured on CCTV, yet the suspect in the killing has never been found in the decades since. So for now, let’s examine this case, as unbelievable as it may sound from the outset.
